
Soon after Canada's Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) declared the Bobolink as Threatened, Ontario began developing a recovery plan that takes into account the long-term survival of not only the Bobolink, but also the farmers that provide its habitat. Grassland bird species have been declining throughout most of their North American ranges. Ontario will be the one to watch as it grapples with new ways to assist a bird that depends heavily on agricultural habitat.
